Inside my Church, my friend Jamie and I decorated our outreach bulletin board to reflect the upcoming holiday, Valentine’s Day. This is a day celebrated by many to show love and affection to our loved ones . While this is true, I had to ask myself how much more does the Heavenly Father want to shower us with His love . The Bible tells us in 1 John 4:19 ,”We love him, because he first loved us.”
Why is knowing the love of God important?
Have you felt lonely or unloved on Valentine’s Day, wondering why you don’t have a date to take you out, leaving you empty handed without a card, flowers or fancy jewelry? At some point in your life you may have felt isolated and unloved, leaving you to question God and the love that He gives freely without us having to earn it.
Romans 5:8 tells us “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us”. When I question the love from others, I find myself empty at times wondering how authentic it is and I’m reminded of that verse . It puts things in perspective; Jesus’s love for us began before we knew Him. It’s a deep love that we can learn from and share with others . I hope you feel the love from your Heavenly Father who cares for you. He cares about the things that we put our hope into. So He reminds us in Psalm 33:20-22 “We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May your unfailing love be with us, Lord, even as we put our hope in you”.
Find your hope, love and strength in Him this Valentine’s Day. God is Love, it’s His nature!
